Office Partitions and Interior Dividers, Done Fast
Office fit-outs, classroom dividers, retail back-of-house build-outs, and residential interior wall additions are all standard partition work. We frame in steel stud, hang drywall (with Type X where code requires), tape and finish, and coordinate electrical rough-in and door rough openings.
Most small-suite office partitions are a 2–3 day turnaround. We work after-hours in occupied buildings to keep your team productive during the day.
What a Typical Partition Job Looks Like
Day 1 — Framing. Steel-stud track and stud installed, door rough opening framed with proper jamb and header, any in-wall blocking for shelving or fixtures. Electrician comes in to rough-in switches and outlets.
Day 2 — Hanging. Drywall panels cut and fastened on both sides. Type X where the partition is rated. Standard 1/2” elsewhere.
Days 3–5 — Taping and finishing. Three coats of mud with drying time between, dustless HEPA sanding, Level 4 finish ready for paint.
For a single new private office in an existing open-plan space, that’s 2–3 working days of our time spread across a week of drying time. For larger fit-outs with multiple offices and a corridor, the schedule scales — but the per-partition timing stays the same.
After-Hours Work in Occupied Buildings
For downtown Toronto, Mississauga Square One, Vaughan Metropolitan Centre, and other busy commercial buildings, we routinely run evening and weekend crews. Building rules usually require it because daytime drywall noise interrupts neighboring tenants and dust containment is harder in active office hours.
Our after-hours work includes:
- Coordinated elevator booking with building management
- Dust containment with plastic sheeting and HEPA air-scrubbers
- Material staging that doesn’t block tenant common areas
- Cleanup before morning so the suite looks normal at 8am
Acoustic-Upgraded Partitions
Standard office partitions don’t have an STC target — they’re just visual dividers. But many small offices need an acoustic upgrade for executive offices, HR rooms, or any space with confidential conversations.
Acoustic upgrades on a standard partition include:
- Sound Attenuation Batts inside the wall cavity (+3–5 STC)
- Double-layer drywall on each side (+5–8 STC)
- Resilient Channel decoupling (+8–10 STC, requires more wall thickness)
- Acoustic sealant at perimeter (often missed; matters a lot)
We’ll quote acoustic upgrade pricing alongside the standard partition quote.
